Walk to Tuk is Back!

Walk to Tuk registration is open, and we want you to join us this winter!!  There are so many reasons to participate in Walk to Tuk, and wouldn’t be possible without our amazing sponsors.

Walk to Tuk is an annual community walking challenge hosted by the NWT Recreation and Parks Association (NWTRPA). 2024 marks the 14th anniversary of Walk to Tuk. 

Community members, schools, and workplaces are encouraged to form teams and conceptually walk the length of the Big River, a distance of 1,658km from Zhatıé Kų́ę́/Fort Providence to Tuktuuyaqtuuq/Tuktoyaktuk. Participants have from January 1 to February 29, 2024, to get their team to Tuktuuyaqtuuq.

Did you know? 

  • The name Walk to Tuk is back! The NWT Recreation and Park Association (NWTRPA) and its Board of Directors announced that a full program review of its annual winter walking challenge has been completed in alignment with the NWTRPA’s strategic goals relating to decolonization and reconciliation. The NWTRPA finalized a full report entitled: Walking the Steps of our Ancestors: NWTRPA Walking Challenge. 
  • Weekly draw prizes, team captain prizes, and prizes for photos and stories are available to be won. The grand prizes, open to all NWT participants are going to be flight vouchers sponsored by Canadian North! Check out our prizes here : Walk to Tuk Prizes
  • The deadline to register a team is January 15, 2024.
